Distracted, Yet Hungry

Returning to Our True Source of Nourishment

This episode reflects on proximity, nourishment, and the reminder that God is meant to be our primary source.

What began as a moment of reflection after my daughter was distracted during breastfeeding became an unexpected spiritual mirror. She wanted nourishment, but struggled to stay close and focused long enough to receive it. In that moment, a truth surfaced: sometimes you want nourishment, but you are not willing to stay close.

In this episode, I reflect on childlike wonder, distraction, and the ways we often seek nourishment in good places that were never meant to replace God. It invites us to consider where we first turn for replenishment, and whether we are willing to return, remain, and trust in God. If you sit at the feet of Jesus, you will be fed. If you listen for the Holy Spirit’s whisper, you will be led.

Are we still willing to be in awe and wonder even when we do not have all the answers or our to-do list remains undone? Today’s episode is a reminder to stay close, look up, and trust that God will never allow you to come to Him and leave hungry. Provision comes with proximity.

If life feels noisy or distracting lately, this is your reminder that you are not behind. It may simply be a call to slow down.

Episode Notes

This episode was recorded in December 2025 while I was spending time with my daughter. Any pauses or imperfect moments are intentionally left in as a reminder that God often meets us not in quiet perfection or polish, but in the middle of everyday life.

Courage Contemplation

  1. Is God currently your main source of nourishment? If not, what is distracting you from Him? I encourage you to take one action today to turn back to God. It could be as simple as looking up or bowing low (see question 2).

  2. What would it look like today to sit at the feet of Jesus and trust that you will be fed?

  3. What does staying close to God look like for me in this season, not ideally, but realistically?

Faith Fuel

Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. -John 6:35

Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. -John 15:4-5
