Hidden Seasons, Holy Timing

Discernment before God clears the way

This episode reflects on discernment, hiddenness, and what it means to trust God’s pace, not just in what you do, but in what you share.

During my fertility journey and move to the coast, I felt God calling me to wait before publicly sharing what was happening and to lean on those closest to me. In that quiet space, I learned how being hidden and discerning what to share can lead to deeper trust in God’s timing. This episode explores how honoring quiet or hidden seasons is not a setback, but a way that God prepares us for what’s ahead.

A Friday drive to pick up sandwiches became an unexpected moment of reflection. I thought about the slowness of social media fasts, fertility clinics, and long journeys.

It takes quiet courage to hold something sacred until God releases you to speak. I reflect on what it means to be hidden, not out of avoidance but out of obedience. The numbers didn’t add up. The timeline didn’t make sense. But God. This episode reminds us that when God calls you into a hidden season, it is not a step backward. It is preparation for a testimony.

If you have been sitting on something: a story, a calling, or a season you have not named out loud yet, I pray that you would find comfort in the waiting, courage in the quiet, and hope in knowing that God sees you and is working on your behalf. May you trust that what feels hidden today will one day radiantly shine, reflecting God’s glory.

Episode Notes

  • This episode was recorded in December 2025 while driving to pick up lunch. Any pauses or imperfect moments are intentionally left in as a reminder that God often meets us not in perfection or polish, but in the middle of everyday life.

  • This episode includes a few reflections from my personal fertility journey. If that’s a tender topic for you right now, feel free to pause and return when you’re ready.

  • If you’d like to read more about the fertility journey posts I’ve shared, you can find them here. If you’re on a fertility journey and would like prayer, you’re welcome to message me.

  • For Paid Subscribers: As a thank-you, I’m sharing a phenomenal book my mentor recommended to me this semester that beautifully aligns with this episode. It has truly been life-changing and helps me look at the Gospels in a new way.

Courage Contemplation

  1. When the numbers, the odds, or the circumstances don’t add up, what do you lean on first: your own analysis or God’s voice?

  2. What area of your life feels hidden right now? What might God be forming in you that does not require public visibility yet?

  3. What are some ‘But God’ moments in your life you can celebrate? What are some ‘Only with God’ prayers that you can be praying right now?

Faith Fuel

“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” -2 Corinthians 12:9-10

“But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.” -Luke 2:19

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” -Isaiah 55:8-9
