Recorded while driving home after an unexpected eye injury, this episode is a real-time reflection on slowness, discernment, and listening when you hear the whisper to slow your pace.
What began as a frustrating and painful interruption became a reminder I didn’t expect: sometimes slowing down is not about rest or intention, but about safety, care, and obedience. When we try to force the pace, even with good intentions, we can miss what God is protecting us from.
In this episode, I reflect on missed plans, when a yes needs to change to a no, and the wisdom that comes when we choose less instead of more. It’s an invitation to notice where God may be asking you to slow the pace, even when it’s inconvenient or disappointing.
Sometimes, the answer is less, not more. Pause, not go. Retract instead of overextending.
Episode Notes
This episode was recorded via headphones while driving home (safely with light-sensitive glasses) after a chemical eye injury. Any pauses or imperfect moments are intentionally left in as a reminder that God often meets us not in quiet perfection or polish, but in the middle of everyday life.
Paid subscribers: I’m sharing an additional 30-second bonus with five reflection/journaling prompts in the chat, which doesn’t appear in the public episode, as a thank-you. There are three questions I often ask at the end of speaking / training engagements, and the other two I utilize in my annual planning.
