A Prayer for Surrendering the Days, Month, & Season Ahead
Entering Lent slowly with open hands
This week, I shared the prayer below with my Queen Qualified prayer call community in anticipation of next week’s gathering. After receiving a note from someone who shared how it touched them, I felt led to share it more widely. If you need language to pause, reflect, or surrender this month, may this meet you right where you are. God is a comforter, healer, and redeemer.
Dear God,
Before we look forward to what’s ahead, we just pause to say thank you for this day, week, and month. You are sovereign over all things, Lord. We thank you for the wonderful opportunities that made us glad, and we also thank you for being with us through any situations that caused us pain, sadness, anger, or hurt this month, Lord. We know that as daughters of the King and co-heirs to Christ, you are with us every step of the way. When we seek you, you are always there and will always be there. I am praying for anyone who has felt abandoned, alone, overlooked, or overwhelmed this month, Lord. May they seek you, and may you send them a sign that you are listening. If they are too weak to seek you, may you still show them that they are deeply loved, cared for, and not forgotten, whether it’s from a call from a loved one or watching a beautiful sunset.
As we look forward to the remaining seven days in the month, twenty-seven days until Spring, and forty-three days until Easter Lord, we surrender our plans to you. May you order our steps along the path you want us to take in each of these areas.
May we take time to reflect on this month from your holy point of view, God, not from an earthly mindset. Help us see any areas we need to pivot or prioritize in the month ahead.
If there is any planting we need to do in our heart, mind, body, or soul so that what you desire to take root and bear fruit this Spring will come forth, please make it known.
If there is anything we need to fast from during Lent, Lord, let it be known. Whether it be a food, media, or even busyness Lord, make it plain and give us the perseverance and posture to focus on you during this critical time in the liturgical calendar.
Thank you for this special and sacred time to gather as co-heirs of Christ, as women of God, as your precious daughters. May your will be done in and through each of us. We ask this all in your son Jesus’ matchless, miraculous, and mighty name. Amen.
Love,
Antoinetta
